TSS (Toyota Safety Sense)

Safety is always a top priority with Toyota. Keeping you and your family safe is something that brings us here at Autoline Toyota joy. We love knowing that we have done everything we can to keep you all safe.

A big part of keeping you safe isn’t just the construction and design of each Toyota vehicle. The safety features we add to help aid each driver. Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is a new feature on many of the Toyota Models of vehicles that have multiple safety features. More and more models of vehicles are coming with TSS.

TSS is designed to help the drivers stay aware, aid in last minute decision making and vehicle operation over a large range of speeds and conditions. It is not meant to replace driver awareness and skill. It helps in those dangerous situations to give a little extra help.

TSS includes Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS wPD). Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA). Automatic High Beam (AHB), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).

Pre-Collision System

The PCS provides collision avoidance or damage mitigation support in speeds at which front collisions may happen. PCS w/PD has the added benefit which may also help to detect pedestrians and help make the driver aware they are there to avoid a collision.

Lane Departure Alert

LDA works by alerting the driver if they start to drift out of the lane where there are visible lane markings to detect. LDA w/SA has the added benefit where once it detects a lane drift, the steering assist function may help correct the steering back into the lane.

Automatic High Beam

This feature helps detect oncoming vehicle lights and turns the high beams on and off depending on the circumstances.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

DRCC uses new technology sensing the vehicle in-front of you and will work to automatically adjust vehicle speed. It helps maintain the pre-set distance between you and the vehicle in front.

These safety features are designed to help support the driver, but were not designed to be heavily relied on and does not by any means replace safe driving. All drivers are still responsible for their own safety and as always must obey traffic speed limits and laws and retain their focus and awareness while driving.
